Hiei's Top Ten Boss fights

How do you describe level achievement.  Do you describe it as how many trophies or achievements you unlocked?  Or are you old school like I am and you find your mastery of gaming put to the test by the Boss of a level or a game?  Welcome readers to another Top Ten List.

BOSS FIGHTS!!!!!!!!!!

Going from 10 to 1 this countdown style list will be accompanied by why I placed them where I did.

IT'S NUMBER X

Super Mario World Bowser: Ahhh yes the shades of the first game I took seriously. Hours on hours.  Days on days.  Watching my brother beat levels better than I ever could..... But than it happened.  I found entrance into the final castle.  MY JOURNEY WAS NEAR AN END..... Once you mastered the castles various paths you come to King Koopa himself.  BOWSER!!!!!!!!! (Insert god chorus music) and the battle begins you have to figure out how to beat him.  It was a satisfying day when i finally beat that game too.  I placed this at number 10 because of the Nostalgia and the challenge it serves for young gamers.

NUMBER IX

The Addams Family on Super Nintendo The Wacky Scientist:  The game itself is fun and pretty to look at.  A much improved version of it's NES counter part.  The super version is far more responsive and better to to handle.  Pugsley's boss The Wacky Scientist.  Was my favorite boss and as I found it challenging especially the level leading up to the boss.  Once I finally beat him I felt elated and the response you get from Pugsley is hilarious.

NUMBER VIII

Your Rival From Poke'Mon Blue and Red:  Yes yes I know the game is childish, I know it is a big game of Rock Paper Scissor.  But the build up is amazing.  You fought through the Eight Gyms, you mastered Victory Road, and than you got to face down the Elite Four only to find out you are not yet champion..... You had to fight your rival.  All of your training all of your defeating your rival gets test one last time...... Or you could glitch out the game and get unlimited Rare Candy and get level 100 pokemon and make the game a cake walk.  Or. You can show your skills as a PokeMon Master and create a team that decimates all.

NUMBER VII

Super Smash Brother's Melee Master Hand: So you have battled Link, Mario, DARK LINK, MARTH,..... Kirby yeah.  You mastered the story mode and you fight The Master....HAND!!!  Yeah a hand, supposedly the hand of the creator of the game himself.  Methodical like a conductor this maniacal instrument of doom.  It is a fight you will never forget.

NUMBER VI

Star Fox Andross:  Welcome to the FX Graphics of Star Fox a rail shooter unlike any other.  The graphics while a 3D looking version of something out of Atari it was none the less appealing.  You fight your way through boss after boss till you reach Andross, the boss will test your limits and than some.  You have to show your mastery of skills learned through out the game and be bold and daring to get in those timely shots.  But once you see the boss go down, you know, you have become a master.

NUMBER V

The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess: Skull King:  This battle was down right FUN.  shortly after getting the anicent gear tool.  You are treated to a boss battle that feels like it is right out of Tony Hawk Pro Skater. WITH A SWORD!!!! Oh man was this boss fight fun.  I was so tempted to replay the temple again to fight the boss again.

NUMBER IV

Guitar Hero Three Satan:  The rhythmic guitar game that made rock star wannabes drool.  Satan was one boss fight that was both challenging and fun.  Instead of star power you got power ups to mess with Satan's playing ability.  Laughingly fun, and extremely tough given the learning curve and level of ability the players had to have to make it that far.  When Satan uses the same power ups on you to throw off your game ohhhh man will you want to smash your guitar into the ground out of fustration.  But with time and diligence and super mad skills and maybe the blessing of the rock gods themselves.  When you beat Satan you can proudly say you stood upon the mountains of hell and slain the beast.

NUMBER III

Devil May Cry 3 Cerberus: A strange and challenging battle to be sure.  You fight the legendary guardian of Hades himself in order to gain entrance into the Tower of Temen-ni-gru in order to find and face down your Twin brother to stop him from entering hell in order to claim the sword of your father.  For new players Cerberus is one tough cookie to fight.  Three heads, ice shooting toward you and from the ceiling.  Early on you are tested and shown how much you will need to learn in order to master the many many skills of Dante Sparda.

NUMBER II

Megaman 2 Airman:  Labeled as one of the toughest bosses in Megaman 2, air man is a PAIN IN THE You know what.  His patterns are tough and couple that with being sucked in toward the boss itself.  If you are not a seasoned Megaman player you will rage, you will curse and you will throw your controller in the air in fustration...... Until you figure out Airman's Weakness  The leaf shield.  Once you beat Air Man, you will feel like you can jump right on over to Wily's Castle and take down the big bad doctor.

Before we get to  Number 1 lets recap
10. Bowser
9. Wacky Scientist
8. Your rival
7. Master Hand
6. Andross
5. Skull King
4. Satan
3. Cerberus
2. Airman

ITS!  NUMBER I

Out of all the possible bosses, all of which provide excellent challenges all of which give you the satisfaction of making you rage to the point of quitting.... Who can provide you with the ultimate challenge....

Final Fantasy VI Kefka:  The seemingly harmless clown who you fight in the beginning of the game, under that happy face lays a nihilist sociopath who wants nothing more than to watch the world burn.  How do you try to get someone who cares about nothing see reason..... You can't and at one point he succeeds so when you finally ascend to top to face down Kefka one last time, the battle is both beautiful and hauntingly sad.

I hope that you have enjoyed this list and I look forward to making another for you.
